Getting Around

Airports

Ireland is very well served by both international and regional airports. Most international flights arrive to Dublin, Cork, Shannon or Belfast.

Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport is located about 6 miles north of Dublin's city centre. Dublin Airport serves both international and domestic airlines and is the main airport in Ireland. A Travel Information Desk is located in the Arrivals Concourse.

There is no rail link to the airport, however a bus departs every 15 minutes to the city centre and bus station. The journey takes roughly 30 minutes. The Air Coach, which calls at city centre hotels, is also a good option on arrival. Visit www.aircoach.ie for more information.

There are plenty of taxis available outside the airport, and the average price from the airport to city centre is €20.00/€25.00.

For more information on Dublin Airport, visit www.dublinairport.ie.

Shannon Airport

Shannon Airport is located in Shannon, County Clare on the West Coast of Ireland. The airport is about 15 miles from Limerick City and Ennis, and 56 miles from Galway City. Frequent bus services are available from outside the airport to Ennis or Limerick with connections to all of Ireland's major cities.

Taxis are available at the 24-hour taxi desk in the Arrivals Hall. You can use Iarnrod Eireann's frequent InterCity Train Service to and from Limerick which has a regular bus connection from Shannon Airport to its Railway Station.
For more information, visit www.shannonairport.com.

Cork Airport

Cork Airport is located 5 miles from the city centre and is well signposted on all major routes. A frequent bus service operates from the airport to the city centre. Train services operate from Cork's Kent station serving all of Ireland.

There is a taxi rank located outside the main terminal. The cost should be between €12 and €15 from the airport to City Centre and Central Railway station.

Bus and Rail

Ireland's national bus and rail services are run by CIE (Coras Iompar Eireann). Visitors travelling around Ireland by public transport should always enquire about special discounted fares or Rambler/Explorer tickets which offer unlimited bus/rail travel for 3, 5 or 15 days.

To find out more, visit Dublin Bus for getting around Dublin, Bus Eireann for national bus services, or Irish Rail for national train travel.
