The perfect place for families, groups, and individuals who enjoy the outdoors and who want to experience Irish country culture, arts, natureand geology in an idyllic setting. The managers received the 2002 Bórd Failte Certificate of Merit for representing the traditional Irish welcome.

There is a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, large dining area and relaxing common room with a real turf fire on the cooler Irish evenings. Warmer evenings will often find people enjoying their meals at the picnic tables or playing a game of volleyball. Other features of the hostel include Internet access, meeting rooms, a small shop in reception, free Irish movies in the evening and bikes available at the hostel for those who wish to use them.

Doorus House is located just six kilometres northwest of Kinvara village in Co. Galway.

BY TRAIN: (Iarnrod Eireann)
Dublin (Heuston station to Galway) then take bus, car or taxi to Doorus House.

BY BUS: (Buseireann)
Galway- Doorus Cross-Doolin-Cliffs of Moher Bus Eireann routes 15, 50, and 423. Scheduled stop in Kinvara village or request stop at Doorus Cross. With these buses make sure you request to get off at Doorus Cross. It is a 3km walk from Doorus Cross to Doorus Hostel. Galway -Nogra Bus Eireann Route 434. Take bus to last stop at Fahy's Traveller's Inn in Nogra. It is 1.5km walk from Travellers to the hostel. Limmerick-via Cliffs of Moher- Doorus Cross Bus Eireann routes 15, 50, and 423. Alternate buses Limerick-Galway Bus Eireann route 51 runs every hour transfer at Kilcolgan 16km from hostel catch Nogra Bus Eireann route 434 M-F at 5:40 pm Or Bus Eireann routes 15, 50, and 423 to Doorus Cross.

Hostel Minibus: For a small fee the hostel provides a mini bus service from the Hostel to Kinvara Village

BY CAR:

FROM THE NORTH: (Donegal, Sligo, Mayo) Drive south on the N18 towards Limerick. At the south end of Kilcolgan, turn right on the N67 to Kinvara. Drive through Kinvara village approximately three kilometres to Doorus Cross. Turn right at the Doorus House Youth Hostel sign. It is another three kilometres to the Youth Hostel from the turn off the N67. Follow the signposts.

FROM THE EAST: (Dublin) Take the N6 west towards Galway. At Oranmore take the N18 south. Follow directions above.

FROM THE SOUTH: (Cork, Killarney, Limerick, Ennis) Drive north on the N18 towards Galway. Approaching Kilcolgan, turn left on the N67 to Kinvara. Drive through Kinvara village approximately three kilometres to Doorus Cross. Turn right at the Doorus House Youth Hostel sign. It is another three kilometres to the Youth Hostel from the turn off the N67. Follow the signposts

FROM THE WEST: (Cliffs of Moher) You can choose two routes to Doorus House. One is north along the Coast Road (R478 to R477) or through Lisdoonvarna (R478 to N67). Both roads meet in Ballyvaughan where the N67 continues east to Kinvara. Turn left at Doorus Cross at the Doorus House Youth Hostel 3km sign.

Do not use GPS Systems for locating the Hostel, they do not have the hostel in the correct location

BY PLANE: Galway Airport: 35 minutes by car to Doorus Shannon Airport: 1 hour and 15 minutes by car to Doorus Dublin Airport 3 hour 30 minutes by car to Doorus.

Kinvara village offers tremendous traditional music in the local pubs. Most evenings in the summer, and 3-5 nights a week in the winter, you will find musicians playing sessions in Kinvara. It is a delightful village with full service grocery stores, post office, fine restaurants, fishing pier, charming gift shops and a mediaeval castle.
