Adventure. Independence. The Real Thing.
The Wicklow Getaway is a brand new Active Ireland Residential, delivered in partnership with An Óige at Knockree Hostel in the Glencree Valley. Built for teens aged 13–16, it bridges the gap between traditional summer camps and genuine independence – through adventure, challenge, and time away from the everyday.
Over five days and four nights, young people hike, navigate, build fires, cook meals, and take on team challenges — all in one of Ireland’s most naturally beautiful and secluded settings. Phones take a back seat. Friendships, skills, and memories take centre stage.
The next programme runs from Monday, August 3rd to Friday, August 7th, 2026, with arrival between 2-4pm on Monday and departure by 2pm on Friday. An optional shuttle bus is available from Bray DART Station.
Day 1 Launch: Registration and room check-in, followed by our River Challenge and ice-breaker games. Activities across the week include hiking and navigation, archery, river bathing, bushcraft, forest first aid, a day trip to the seaside, and evening campfires – all fully supervised with high staff-to-teen ratios. Full board is included throughout, and teens even get hands-on in the kitchen as part of the experience.
