GAISCE

Gaisce –The President’s Award is a self-development programme for young people aged 14 -25 which has been proven to enhance confidence and wellbeing through participation in personal, physical and community challenges.

It is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, to all young people to dream big and realise their potential.

We work with Gaisce to help schools organise their Bronze Adventure Journey through our Glendalough hostel in the Wicklow mountains.

As Bronze Adventure Journey Challenge Partners we take care of:

• Providing you with passionate volunteer hike guides
• Mini Irish/Continental Breakfast
• Adventure Journey Information Packs
• Accommodation in our Glendalough hostel

Your Bronze Gaisce Award with us will involve two days and one night, 25km hike and preparation of a shared meal in our communal kitchens.

Youth Groups and Organisations

If you have a group of young or young-at-heart people or belong to an organisation that would like to explore Ireland's natural beauty, participate in activities such as hill-walking, cycling, photography or conservation, and stay in a beautiful, rural location while doing so, we'd love to hear from you. As Ireland's Youth Hostel Association, An Óige is committed to helping everyone, especially young people, to develop a love and appreciation of the Irish countryside, historical and cultural heritage, particularly by providing affordable hostel accommodation for them whilst on their travels.

We want to co-operate with like-minded organisations to achieve our aims.
